A terrifically authentic Mexican experience in the heart of the Sausalito tourist district, this place is definitely not a tourist trap. Wonderful cocktails (I had a paloma) followed by numerous tasty courses which were shared with my dog, highlights being the half chicken, quesadillas birrias, sides of rice beans and carne asada (for Dave the dog) etc. Sit in the small patio with your canine companion and watch the tourists go by.

TLDR: Come here for the vibes and views, not the bites. I stumbled upon this place when spending a day in Sausalito. The cute decor and views overlooking the harbor drew me in. I was immediately seated and my order was taken. I appreciated that they had an array of zero-proof drinks, as I wasn't in the mood to drink this particular day. I decided to go with the "Kickin' Back" for my meal. While it was tasty, it was very ginger beer forward (I had expected it to have more of a fruity, pinapple taste). The portion was also small as it was filled with a large portion of ice. For my appetizer, I went with the "Coconut Campechano" ceviche. I had never had ceviche that was infused with coconut milk and I can safely say that I loved every bite. This was very filling and the seafood was very fresh. I definitely recommend this dish. For my main, I went with the Baja Style Cod tacos. The fish, once again, was fresh and wonderfully battered. The taco itself with the toppings, however, did not wow me and honestly, was a bit dry. I ended up just eating the fish out of the taco and leaving the rest. Overall, it was good for a day out in Sausalito but I wouldn't say the food taste was mind-blowing.

This was my second time at Copita. We were a party of 6 and got seated immediately when we arrived at around 1:30p on a Sunday. My friends and I ordered a variety of dishes. I got the shrimp enchiladas which were yummy. Would definitely come back!

Nice little stop to get a bite to eat and people watch. We did not have a reservation. It was a 30 min wait. We gave our phone number and they said we'd get a text when our table was ready. We never received a text. We went back after almost an hour and asked if our table was ready, and it was. We were seated right on the patio. Beautiful view of the ocean. Drinks were refreshing and tasty. They do not give complimentary chips and salsa. We ordered some, as well as queso fondito with chorizo and chips. For someone who don't like chorizo, I was able to have some cheese because it was chunks of chorizo on the cheese. I was a little disappointed they did not leave the second bowl of chips. Chicken mole enchiladas were so tasty. A perfect amount of sweetness with a little spicey. Hubby had shrimp enchiladas. He said they were, just ok. He was expecting a little more spice. Our meals only came with the enchiladas. I did check out the dessert menu, but nothing caught my eye. I would love to go back.

I knew this place would be good when I saw the fire rotisserie. We tried the 24 hour carnitas and the half rotisserie chicken. It came with freshly made tortillas and we ordered a guacamole. Everything was delicious! Next time I would get a margarita instead of a beer. Make sure you have reservations it was full at 6. The service was a little off but we had a good time and everything tasted great so overall it was excellent. I like the owner Joanne Weir on tv and she has a fun travel and cooking show. I would definitely go back.

This was my second time at Copita. There are options for vegetarians, pescatarians, and meat eaters. The quesabirria is made with lamb meat, and I thought it was just ok. The consistency of the meat reminded me of canned ground meat, and I would have preferred the meat to be either in chunks or strips. The enchiladas were tasty and so were the carnitas. I would recommend the house margarita and the chips and dip. Service was friendly, thorough, and thoughtful for a party of 14. The bathroom area was clean, and there's almost a full length mirror in the hallway so you can make sure you haven't gotten food all over yourself after the meal. Heads up that there are different taco options that come in pairs of 2, but you can't mix and match (can't order one steak + one chicken taco). The last time I ate here in a large group, a friend and I ordered two different types of tacos and then traded one for the other. Copita takes reservations for larger parties, but the dining area does feel cramped even with a few outdoor seating options. There's a bar area with a few TV's that are usually broadcasting sports games. This restaurant is tucked in between Hamburgers and Golden Gate Jewelry. While there is no parking directly in front of the restaurant, there is a paid parking lot across the street as well as metered street parking further north and further south of the restaurant. Meters are free after 6pm and on Sundays and holidays.

Came hungry, left full -- very full. Visited Sausalito with the family over the weekend and chose this place for a late-ish afternoon lunch. We came in with no expectations other than the reviews we've seen on Yelp so we were left to make our decisions based on what sounded good on the menu. After some time doing the dance between the menu and photos on Yelp I decided on the Quesabirria while my wife ordered some Crispy Pork Belly tacos. Those two items plus a few bites that we shared amongst other family at the table made for a very hefty meal -- i was beyond full but satisfied at the same time. The Quesabirria was filled with delicious shredded lamb, not too overly seasoned and also not soggy as some birria tacos end up being served as. The Pork Belly tacos were also equally amazing, the tacos were served with generous amounts of pork. If I had one gripe about this place, it would be that they didn't provide complimentary chips and salsa/guac. Though the items were a little on the pricey side, I'd say it was worth it and I'd definitely come back.

We came here on a Sunday after taking photos by the Golden Gate bridge. What a beautiful community of Sausalito. This entertainment area of restaurants and stores is picturesque. The service at the restaurant was top tier. Our waitress was very attentive and accommodating. We started with the Mexican truffle empanadas and they did not disappoint. I love empanadas, usually with meat in them, but this one had no meat and was equally delicious. The Al pastor and carne asada tacos were absolutely wonderful. The meat was perfectly seasoned and the carne asada was tender and just excellent. I loved every moment of eating these tacos and will definitely return on my next visit to San Francisco.
